We're going to call it the best winery you've never heard of...but we REALLY want to make sure you get familiar with winemaker Patrick Campbell and the wines of Laurel Glen. When we opened four years ago our business partner and friend, Doug Frost, turned us onto this well respected producer and we have been loving their wines ever since. The wonderful thing about a tasting like this is that there is something for everyone! Like Malbec? Then taste 3 of some of the best Agrentinian Malbecs you'll ever get to try. Like California Cabernet? It's almost scary how great the Laurel Glen Cabernet's taste. Love Zinfandel or Petite Sirah? Laurel Glen makes those too (and one of them is our 3rd best selling wine in 2010!).
Laurel Glen was the wine of choice on one of our engagement nights, we take older Laurel Glen Cabernets to dinner with all the "serious" wine drinkers we know and blow them away, we drink Laurel Glen Estate Cabernet when we want to make it special - and we drink Laurel Glen "Reds" when we want something to go with Pizza on Sunday night. The versatility, breadth and depth of the Laurel Glen portfolio make it a "no-brainer" for us to carry at our stores - and we want to make sure you get the opportunity to taste their entire lineup!
In some circles it is discussed that the 1990 Laurel Glen Estate Reserve Cabernet (only bottled in magnum) is one of the best, if not "the" best, California Cabernets ever produced. We're not prone to hyperbole like that, but we think when you taste through these wines, and notice how reasonably priced the offerings are (the 2004 Estate Cabernet is priced at $39.99), that you'll become a Laurel Glen fan.
