"Absolutely Mind Blowing Value..."

2011 Hazana Rioja Tradicion

Release Price: $12.99
Winestore Price: $9.99
SALE Price: $8.99 (net)
SAVE 31%

SALE runs through Sunday August 25th, 2013

Dag gummit people, we absolutely love us some Rioja. I mean, we try to drink it as much as possible. It is typically food friendly, flavorful and easy drinking. Heck, the 2011 Hazana clocks in at only 12.5% alcohol. They call that water out in California. We also actively seek out wines that have a man riding a horse carrying a sword on the label...just kidding.

Wine writer and noted point dispenser Robert Parker recently opined that the 2011 Hazana Rioja Tradicion was an "absolutely mind blowing value". We have to say that we agree. I mean, 2005 Muga Gran Reserva Rioja is epic wine, but it's $50. When I am having bacon and eggs for dinner next Tuesday night I'm looking for something a little more in the $8 range. Outside of Espelt, Hazana is my new "go to" drinker.

We'll have it open for FREE to try all day today in case you want to swing by and see what all the fuss is about. With back to school and all, we could all use a little mind blowing value in our lives right now.

It's that time again!

Thermonuclear Fruit Bomb Tasting
Saturday August 24th, 2013
11am - 8pm

Featuring:
2009 Closa Batllet "Artai"
2009 Casa Castillo "Las Gravas"
2011 Scout's Honor Red Blend
2010 AALTO
2009 Petrolo Galatrona
2009 Mas Doix "Doix"
2010 Banshee Mordecai

and more!!
Usually around once a quarter we roll out some of the biggest wines we have tasted recently. You know, the stuff you pour at your dinner party that makes people put down their glass and say, "Dang, that wine is great!" It's the stuff we all know and love. The teeth stainer from Priorat. The inky Zin blend from California. The bombastic Merlot from Italy (yes, you read that correctly). We have all your adult back to school shopping covered! These are usually some of our best tastings for a few reasons, but most importantly because it allows you to try all sorts of different wines from different regions - all while knowing they fit your flavor profile of big, bold and powerful.

Sooo - if you are looking to enjoy some really amazing wine this weekend, a few of the gems that we will have on the machine on Saturday definitely qualify in the "cult" wine category.

Call your best friends, draw straws to see who's going to be the D.D. and bring everyone to the tasting!  The wines are going to be AMAZING!!!

Did we save the best for last?

Our Last Rose Offering Of Summer!

2012 Eric Kent Sonoma Coast Dry Rosé
Winery Price: $20.00 (Click HERE to see)
Winestore Price: $14.99 (net)
SAVE 25%

Only 15 cases available

PLUS AN EXTRA!

2011 Eric Kent Small Town Pinot Noir
Winery Price: $48.00 (Click HERE to see)
Winestore Price: $39.99 (net)
SAVE 17%

Only 9 cases available

We've been drinking Eric Kent wines for some time - only problem, from a business standpoint, was that the wines were made in such small numbers they would not sell any to us commercially! That finally changed this year. Winestore. is proud to bring you some absolutely kicking Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and of course, Rosé from the great people at Eric Kent.

The rosé is a blend of Pinot Noir, Grenache and Syrah and is going to be your perfect back to school sipper. Only 508 cases of this wine were produced and we have 3% of the total production here in our stores for you to take. Our guess - it won't last the weekend at this price.

As for the Pinot Noir. No - it is not inexpensive wine. That said, Eric Kent Wine Cellars made its name on Pinot Noir. Only 414 cases produced for the whole planet earth - we have a lowly 2.2% of that, or just 9 cases to sell you.

Lastly, one thing that makes these wines super cool are the labels. You can read more about the Eric Kent art story here, but basically they feature a new artist and a new label on each of their wines every year. Not only does every wine have a story, every label does as well. Very cool.

Belle Glos Pinot Noir Tasting!

Belle Glos Pinot Noir Tasting!

Saturday August 17th, 2013
11am - 8pm
ALL DAY LONG!

http://www.belleglos.com/assets/jpeg/image_index.jpg

Featuring:
2012 Belle Glos "Meiomi" Pinot Noir
2012 Belle Glos "Clark & Telephone" Pinot Noir
2011 Belle Glos "Las Alturas" Pinot Noir
2011 Belle Glos "Dairyman Russian River" Pinot Noir
2012 Belle Glos Pinot Noir Blanc Rose

We've been tasting a lot of big bold wines as of late so we decided it's time to roll out some Pinot Noir for those who try and avoid the tannic beasts. Pinot Noir is not about color and it's not about power, intensity or oomph. What Pinot Noir should be about is seduction. Silk. Suppleness. Length. Complexity. Sometimes it's earthy; sometimes it's fruity. Neither one is more correct than the other but elegance needs to happen if great Pinot Noir is present.

Belle Glos Meiomi is no doubt one of our best selling wines and it just so happens that people have been "trading up" from the Meiomi every now and again to the Belle Glos single vineyard offerings. We've decided to roll them all out for you this weekend including a Pinot Noir Rose as well (it's still summer!) These wines are perfect with a slight chill - e.g. you can sip these great wines on Saturday night out on the back deck when it is only 60 degrees!!

A little something for every Pinot lover this weekend at all sorts of price points. We hope you can make it out to any of our three stores and taste with us!

As always, THANK YOU for your business and we'll see you this weekend!

And the winner is...

Rombauer Blind Tasting Winner Is...

2012 Rombauer Chardonnay!

2nd Place goes to 2011 Ventana Chardonnay at $12.99 per bottle!

2012 Rombauer Chardonnay
Winery Price: $34.00 (Click HERE to see)
Winestore Price: $27.99 (net) per bottle

You read that correctly. 2012 Rombauer Chardonnay won the 1st Annual Rombauer Blind Tasting. I wish I could sit here and tell you that some $6.00 Chardonnay bested all the heavyweights, but it just did not happen this year. The best team won. Cinderella will have to wait until next year.

Now it may be important to point out that the runner up was 2011 Ventana Chardonnay, which clocks in at only $12.99 per bottle. It lost to Rombauer by all of 1 vote. That's right - if just one person had swung the other way we would have had a $12 winner. That still does not take away from the fact that Ventana is a screaming deal at this price. We have both in stock for you and on the tasting machines at all 3 stores so swing on by and see what you think!!

Sale Extended!

2010 Castano Hecula

Release Price: $11.99
Winestore Price: $9.99
2 Day SALE Price: $6.99 (net)
SAVE 42%

Soooo...our wholesaler called us and basically said that all of you guys are amazing and this wine is flying out the door like it is going out of style. They then told us that we needed to extend the sale through Sunday. Obviously we said that a) yes our customers are the best in the business and b) we love sales. So the sale is extended through this Sunday! Continue to buy with abandon.

Here is the newsletter from Wednesday!

This deal is beyond crazy. I mean, we are giddy over here with the value play that this wine represents. You will not, in your lifetime, find a wine that tastes better than this for $6.99. Ever.

There, we said it. Try and prove us wrong...it is not possible. This wine is amazing at $9.99. At $6.99 it is mind blowing. We have had Castano Hecula before, on deal at $9.99 (which is the second lowest price in the country until today), and it has been a pretty big hit. In those previous offerings we told you that the wine press had been gushing over Hecula for some 10 years now, stating:

"Is the average buyer at this price point ready for this? An amazing value"

"Perhaps the most rewarding under $15 wine I have had in a long time"

"As long as I have been drinking wine this has over-delivered in the value category"

Miss out if you feel like it - your friends will be crushing this stuff :)

Blind Tasting Winner!

2011 Venge Scout's Honor

Winery Price: $38.00 (Click HERE to see)

The votes are in and your peers have spoken. The winner of our 1st Annual Silver Oak vs. Caymus vs. Everyone Else Blind Tasting was the 2011 Venge Scout's Honor Red Blend. Interesting note that this wine doesn't even have a dollop of Cabernet in it! This blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Charbono has long been a customer favorite (it's basically like "The Prisoner" but better) and it showed its true colors at all three stores last weekend. It should be noted that the 2011 Caymus Cabernet made a strong second place showing. This stuff is pretty darn tasty.

So swing on by and see what was dominating some pretty strong tasting competition this weekend. If you haven't had Scout's Honor before, now you have no reason not to give it a try! We've got some pretty awesome pricing on this product too, but we have to keep it as an "in store special" for reasons that continue to baffle us.

As always, THANK YOU for your business and we appreciate all of you who came out this weekend to taste!!

Caymus vs. Silver Oak vs. Everyone Else - Blind!

Caymus vs. Silver Oak vs. Everyone
BLIND Tasting!
Saturday August 3rd, 2013
11am - 8pm

http://static.wine-searcher.net/images/labels/11/97/caymus-vineyards-cabernet-sauvignon-napa-valley-usa-10121197.jpg VShttp://www.thecarltonrestaurant.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/SilverOakText.jpg VS http://www.propergandaonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/everyone-else.jpg?w=300

Sooo....Caymus just released their new vintage, and now Silver Oak has released their new vintage, and we also have a ton of wine in the store that we think is really rocking right now. So we thought - you love blind tastings, we love blind tastings, why don't we put all these bad boys in one big epic blind tasting and see who comes out the winner. So we'll have Silver Oak, Caymus and six other wines all blind on the machine ready for you to taste and vote on - and then we will release the favorite next week.

Nothing says August like drinking good wine...except maybe heat. So we're gonna bring the heat! The tasting format for those of you who have not taken part in our blind tastings is pretty simple. The wines will all be tasted blind on our tasting machines. One of them will be 2011 Caymus Cabernet, one will be 2009 Silver Oak Alexander Valley and the others will be an assortment of wines at every price point from a number of different regions. All you have to do is taste and pick your favorite. Yes, that's right, your favorite. We will then take all of the votes from all three stores and let you know who the heavy hitter really is!

We hope to see you this Saturday and as always, THANK YOU for your business!
