15% Off Mixed Cases!
Thursday October 31st - Sunday November 3rd*

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/5684/17462062.pnghttp://images.huffingtonpost.com/2008-11-25-20071201015559_621blackfriday_lede2.jpg

Nothing says "we've been open one year and want to celebrate" like a 15% off all mixed and matched cases sale. No, we're not talking about a Harris Teeter "let me mark the wine way up before I mark it down" 15% sale, we're talking about real savings here people!

Our Lake Norman store celebrates its one year anniversary this Friday and according to all our metrics, year one was a resounding success. Of course we could not do it without YOU, yes you, our wonderful customers. We cannot thank you enough for all your support so saving a little more change than normal is the least we can do! As you know, our Lake Norman store has the same great customer service (headed by the one and only Ian Coyne), the same wonderful tasting machines (this time with awesome touch screens), and of course all of the exact same wonderful wines that are hand selected for you by Master Sommelier and Master of Wine Doug Frost.

The Sale is at all three stores (Southpark, Blakeney, Lake Norman) and will last through Sunday. We hope to see you this weekend and celebrate with us!

Cheers,
The team @ winestore.

The Greatest Wine From The Greatest Co-Op?

2010 Capcanes Costers del Gravet

Winestore Price: $19.99
Six Pack Price: $14.99*

SAVE 25%

*six pack price only available in store or over the phone. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Only 56 cases available

People of the interwebs, we have been on a Spanish wine roll over the last few weeks! It just keeps getting better! There is an argument to be made that Capcanes is the greatest wine co-op on the planet, and now there is an argument to be made that the 2010 Costers del Gravet is their greatest achievement yet. This blend of 50% Cabernet, 30% Garnacha and 20% Samso is a game changer. I know, you've heard it all before. This wine is awesome! You should buy some! It tastes great! Honestly though, we sell a lot of wines that never even make it to the e-mail. We only want to send you stuff when we think it is that special. This is one of those times.

We could sit here for hours and tell you about the wine, but we only have 56 cases to sell you across our 3 stores right now and our distributor has not told me when our next allotment of this wine is dropping. So if you are picking up what we are putting down - you need to swing on by and grab some of this cab blend. It pairs well with trick or treating and pours beautifully into red solo cups to travel around the neighborhood...just sayin'.

"Wines that effortlessly seduced the senses..."

Terroir Al Limit Tasting!
Saturday October 26th, 2013
11am - 8pm
ALL DAY LONG!

Featuring:
2010 Terroir Al Limit Vi de la vila de Torroja
2010 Terroir Al Limit Vi de coster Arbossar
2010 Terroir Al Limit Vi de coster Dits del Terra

Those words in the subject line of our e-mail come from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and we could not agree more. The Terroir Al Limit wines we are rolling out for you on Saturday are absolutely stunning.

Haven't heard of Terroir Al Limit? That's ok - they are a super small producer. Heck, their flagship wine has a production of only 12,268 bottles. That is for the whole planet. To put that into perspective some of the first growth Bordeaux wines you hear so much about produce around 350,000 bottles. Terroir Al Limit was founded around 10 years ago by winemaking superstar Eben Sadie and Chef Dominik Huber and ever since they rolled out their first vintage, the wines have been making some serious waves.

We drink A LOT of Priorat here at winestore. I mean we absolutely love the stuff. Clos Erasmus, Laurel, Mas Doix, Mas D'en Compte, Roquers de Porrera, Marge - the list goes on and on. The Terroir Al Limit wines may represent the best wines from Priorat we have tasted in a long time. The Torroja for $39.99 may be the best Priorat value on the planet.

There is some cool stuff out on the interwebs about the winery. A video from Dominik Huber about the wines can be found here. A cool look at the vineyards and terroir of Priorat and Terroir Al Limit can be found here. Other links and articles abound, but we don't want to bore you too much.

So swing in this Saturday for a bit and see what Terroir taken to the limits in Priorat looks like. We are pretty certain you won't be disappointed.

As always, THANK YOU for your business!

The Best Chardonnay In The Store?

2012 Binigrau Nounat

Release Price: $36.00 (Click HERE to see)
Winestore Price: $24.99
Six Pack Price: $19.99*

SAVE 44%

*six pack price only available in store or over the phone. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Chardonnay is far and away the most important white wine varietal for our stores. We sell more Chardonnay than all the other white grape varietals combined. So it should not surprise you that we are constantly on the lookout for the next big thing in Chardonnay. Back in August we think we found it, and it's not from California...it is from Mallorca. Yes, Mallorca - that small little Mediterranean island best known as a European holiday destination may be producing the best Chardonnay you have never heard of...

We tried this wine for the first time back in August and I kid you not, this is a dead ringer for Aubert Chardonnay ($125 retail). Kistler, Peter Michael, Marcassin, Pahlmeyer - I would put this in a blind tasting with all of these California titans and feel fairly confident it would hold it's own (heck, we might even have to do it in the name of science!). Best part is the Nounat is not even 100% Chardonnay. It is an equal parts blend of Prensal Blanc and Chardonnay - because if you're gonna produce some rocking white wine from the ancient island of Mallorca, you need to at least throw in one indigenous varietal for good measure.

We'll have the wine on the machine to taste at all three stores if you don't believe us, but we're fairly certain this is special stuff at a very attractive price.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

FREE Tasting with the Wagner Family of Wines!

FREE Wagner Family Tasting!
Saturday October 19th, 2013
2pm - until the wine runs out!

Featuring:
2011 Caymus Special Select Cabernet
2011 Caymus Cabernet
2012 Belle Glos Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir
2012 Belle Glos Meiomi
2011 Conundrum Red

This is a pretty serious free lineup....and it costs a pretty penny. So either you guys need to come drink all this good juice (tasting is happening at all 3 stores of course!) or we are going to have to take it all home Saturday night and drink it ourselves. It is up to you!

We throw the Wagner family some pretty serious love here at winestore, and while their entire family lineup has gotten almost too large to taste at one time, we decided to bring out the show stoppers for you. So in addition to our FREE tasting tonight, we're doing another one this Saturday. You'll be able to sip some champions for free, then maybe grab a few tastes of some new wines on the machine and have yourself a pretty nice Saturday afternoon.

Save 46% on this Pinot Noir!

2011 Hahn SLH Pinot Noir

Winery Price: $35.00 (Click HERE to see)
Winestore Price: $24.99
SALE Price: $18.99 (net)

SAVE 46%

SALE runs Wednesday October 16th - Sunday October 20th

I would be hard pressed to tell you how much I like this Pinot Noir for $19. I mean, you can spend more if you want to but I'm going to stick with this stuff. I mean it is blend of Pinot Noir clones 113, 115, 667, 777, and 2A for goodness sakes. It says so on the back label. Now, I have absolutely no idea what that means other than that combination leads to some seriously delicious juice.

So let's celebrate Congress kicking the can down the road with a great deal on a great wine. You deserve something nice for yourself this week. You've earned it.

Guess The Varietal Blind Tasting!

Guess the Varietal - Save 15%
Saturday October 12th, 2013
11am - 8pm
ALL DAY LONG!

Can you tell the difference between Cabernet and Pinot Noir? What about Zinfandel and Merlot? Now is the time to find out...

We do all sorts of blind tastings where you try and guess the price, or the wine (Caymus, Silver Oak etc.) but only one other time have we done a blind tasting where you try and guess what grape varietal you are tasting. It was a hit - and it's time to bring it back into the lineup! So, this Saturday, we are going to do our twist on the "Guess the correct grape varietal" blind tasting.

We'll have eight red wines on the machines to taste, all blind, and you will have the opportunity to guess the grape varietal. Should you guess the grape varietal (or the predominant grape varietal if the wine happens to be a blend) correctly, you will get a 15% discount on your entire purchase that day*. It should be a very simple yet very fun game. We blind taste all the time and most of the time we do not guess correctly - but for those few times that we do, bragging rights last a long, LONG time! You'll be able to impress your friends as you take one sip and exclaim - that's a 2009 Napa Cab - only to be correct!

All in all we just want it to be a fun filled afternoon and who doesn't need a little vino now that fall is in full swing...we know we do!

We hope to see you Saturday and as always, thank you for your business!

Cheers!

Epic Eric Solomon Tasting This Weekend!

Eric Solomon Selections Tasting!
Saturday October 5th, 2013
11am - 8pm

*

FEATURING:
2004 Domaine de la Janasse Chaupin (Magnum)
2009 Benjamin Romeo Predicador
2011 Lafage Cuvee Nicolas
2010 Mas Donis
2010 La Peira
2010 Clos Erasmus "Laurel"
2010 Espelt Garnacha
2000 Artadi Pagos Viejos

2010 Clos D'Agon Blanco
2012 Herencia Altes Blanca

and more!

We show Charlotte based importer Eric Solomon Selections some serious love here at winestore., but there is very good reason. There are lots of folks who import wines; and Solomon is one of the most revered and influential wine importers in the business today. His wine portfolio from Spain and France is scary good, especially if you are an importer trying to compete with him. His amazing stable of wines includes Marcoux, Benjamin Romeo, Clos Erasmus, La Peira, Janasse, Herencia Altes, Mas Doix, Garrigue, Closa Batllet, Chateau Tirecul, Lafage ...and the list goes on and on. These properties are all the rage at the moment among the critics, and for good reason. They make utterly lush and delicious wines, and yet they are not wines that have sold their souls (ya know, with high alcohol, over-extraction, too much oak and the like) in order to get blessedly high scores from he-who-must-not-be-named. These wines are rich and impressive but they not only retain their souls, they HAVE soul. Character. Personality. Whatever.

Solomon's book is an embarrassment of riches. We are delighted that he lives in Charlotte and that we have the opportunity to offer so many of his fabulous wines. And we are even more excited to show you the breadth and depth of his portfolio this weekend. The wines will be up on the machine all day Saturday (and a few are already up!). We hope to see you!!

Just some of the SPECIAL DEALS:

2004 Domaine de la Janasse Cuvee Chaupin (Magnum)
Release Price: $150.00
Winestore Price: $99.99 (net)

SAVE  33%

Domaine Janasse delivers juicy, powerful Chateauneuf-du-Pape and the 2004 Chaupin in magnum is turning into something serious silky over the next few years.

2000 Artadi Pagos Viejos
Release Price: $90.00
Winestore Price: $59.99 (net)
SAVE  33%

Where in the US can you find 13 year old Rioja for 30% less than the release price from a top rate producer like Artadi? Answer is only here at winestore. Artadi is not simply a great producer of Rioja, but is one of the most important producers in Spain. Take that information and do with it what you will...this will dominate California Cabs at twice the price.

2010 Clos Erasmus "Laurel"
Regular Price: $49.99
Winestore SIX PACK Price: $39.99
SAVE  45%

Only 6 six packs remain of this vintage. I wonder if it will even make it to the tasting!

Winestore Price: $24.99
SAVE  29%

A fascinating vintage in Rioja, and a select Rioja made by the winemaker some knowledgeable Spanish critics think is one of the top two or three producers in this legendary area.

"In spite of rock and tempest's roar, in spite of false lights on the shore, sail on, nor fear to breast the sea!"
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The quote above is from the 2009 Dry Creek Mariner front label, and while it has absolutely nothing to do with how delicious this wine is, we thought it was pretty awesome and thus decided to include it in this e-mail. If you want to geek out and read the whole poem like we did, you can find it here.

Anyhoo - back to the topic at hand - 45% off Dry Creek Mariner! This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc is a stunner. At $25 a bottle in a solid six pack, this needs to be in the running for your next dinner party / cookout / Sat. night movie wine with the wife. Lovers of Cali Cab, of Bordeaux and of good wine in general will all find something to love here.

So swing on in and give it a taste (of course we have it on the machines!) and grab a six pack before we run out! You can also watch a pretty cool video about the wine by clicking HERE.
