Saying that wine prices are a little bit arbitrary is like saying the Jackson family is a little bit crazy. It's not just that crossing state lines can result in radical price increases or decreases, but also that some markets are full participants in certain wineries, buying each and every vintage upon release, as well as every bottling, and some are not. So you learn not to be surprised by discounts or the inverse, price gouging, and the good retailers are ever vigilant to jump on some fantastic deal, long before word hits the street.

However, I have to admit that my jaw hit the floor when we found someone offering this price on 2006 Chateau de Beaucastel. First off, it's a wonderful, even grand vintage for Chateauneuf-du-Pape. And it's BEAUCASTEL, the benchmark estate in a region that acts as the benchmark for a grape (Grenache) and a style (Rhone blend) known the world over.

And I haven't seen this price for years, not since the Rhone Valley's string of great vintages began in 2004.

Suit yourself, but I bought a case for myself and I have so much wine in the basement that I haven't bought an entire case of anything for ages.

Call us at 704-442-4024 or e-mail us here to order yours today. Limited supply available as we sold over 100 bottles this weekend just off of the tasting machine!

Happy Drinking,
