Given it is going to be 72 degrees outside, we have decided to go ahead
and throw out our first white wine offering of the year - and it is a
doozie.
One of the coolest wines you've never heard of, the Gramona Gessami
bottling is a lip-smackingly dry blend of Sauvignon Blanc,
Gewurztraminer and Moscatel. Gramona is the best cava producer, period,
but it turns out they can make lovely still wine too. We have been
drinking this stuff for years, but it suffers a bit of an identity
crisis. The bottle, the Gessami is in, is as tall as they come and
people automatically assume the wine is going to be sweet, and tend to
stay away. So we are here to tell you - ignore the crazy tall bottle and
just trust us. If you love Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc (or even
Conundrum) this is a must try. Also, as an added bonus, the label is in
braille so should you find yourself searching your wine cabinet in a
power outage you are guaranteed to find the right bottle.

Back in early January we decided we needed to carry a nicer Malbec for
all you Malbec enthusiasts out there. After much searching we decided on
Darioush Capataz Malbec. We picked up the rest of the 2009 vintage our
distributor had in stock and without even sending out a newsletter, you
guys bought up our entire stock in just one week. Message received...you
want more Capataz.
The Malbec grape has generally only proven interesting in the elevated
foothills of the Argentine Andes, and Napa winemaker Darioush Khaledi
has a knack for turning interesting into amazing. This is the first non
Napa wine that Darioush has crafted, and he has only rolled out a measly
400 six packs. Hailing from the Tupungato region of Mendoza, this wine
is all about power and plushness.
So here is the 2010 Capataz for you, just arrived in time for the storm
and ready to roll! If big, intense and powerful Malbec is right in your

This wine was a "sleeper" hit of 2013. It basically was on cruise
control and sold like crazy, without any of us really giving it the push
it so clearly deserved. So due to our "support" of this wine last year,
in comes a better price for this year. Now that this wine has fallen
below $20 retail (last year price was $23.99) we have to say that this
is some insane value. No, it's not $5 or something like that, but in the
middle of a snowstorm curled up next to the fire this is a home run!
Whitehall Lane has long been one of the most well respected producers in
Napa Valley. So here you have one of Napa Valley's most consistent and
well respected producers offering a delightful blend of Cabernet
Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Why this blend? Because if delicious fruit
is good, a lot of delicious fruit just has to be better!
