Thanksgiving Wine Specials!!

Thanksgiving Wine Deals!!
http://en.nkfu.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/thanksgiving-wallpaper-hd-5.jpg
Let's be honest here people....nothing says Thanksgiving like drinking some vino with family and friends (well, other than Turkey). Maybe you share a glass with your dad while you deep fry that Turkey. Maybe you share a glass with your siblings while watching some football. Maybe you just watch Aunt Alice polish off an entire bottle before Thanksgiving dinner and then proceed to go take a "nap". It doesn't matter when or how you drink it - but you're gonna need some vino over the next week.

That is why we are pulling out some hot deals on some of our favorite wines! All prices are good through Sunday November 18th! Also - a cool new feature on our website - order online for pickup at any of our three stores!

Save 24% Off Total Wine - Every Single Day!

Does Big Box mean Big Savings?
http://www.australiantraveller.com/images/galleries/3153/025bigsavingspiggy.jpg

Every now and again, we feel it's appropriate to tackle the issue of wine prices. Not in the educational sense like Doug does on occasion, but rather straight up store vs. store (or bottle vs bottle). Since we opened in 2006, we've been asked on numerous occasions how our prices stack up against the "big box" retailers. Most often the store in question is Total Wine. It's a fair question as most of us just assume that a bigger store means lower prices. Large retailers are supposed to wield endless amounts of buying power in order get lower prices and squash independent retailers right?? Well, not exactly. We thought we would put this theory to the test by purchasing a case from Total Wine and comparing it to the exact same case from winestore. We selected several wines for every day drinking (e.g. Mas Donis and Predator Zinfandel) and a few nicer wines for a special occasion (e.g. Rombauer Chardonnay and Kunde Cabernet). The results were as follows:
Case of wine from Total Wine (with tax): $217.55 - click here to view receipt
Case of wine from winestore. (with tax).: $166.43 - click here to view receipt
Savings of 24% or $51.12!
We were not surprised but we thought you might be. Even if we did not discount mixed cases by 10% (we do - Total Wine does not) you would still be saving $41. What could be better than being able to support local business and save money at the same time? What could you do with the money saved? You could buy 49 songs on itunes, a couple of cases of diapers, a round of drinks (with room to spare) for you and your friends, groceries to cook your loved one a nice meal at home, or a nice meal for two from Yama Asian Fusion- and that's just the tip of the iceberg!

All in all we want you to know we are looking out for you and your wallet - bringing you the best wine possible for the lowest price.

If you don't feel like viewing the receipts, one example of the price difference is:

Many of you know that Gundlach Bundschu is the brains behind our best selling wine, Rockus Bockus. What you may not know, and we didn't until earlier this week, is that Rockus Bockus has a big brother, and his name is Gundlach Bundschu Mountain Cuvee.

A blend of Cab, Merlot, Cab Franc, Zin, Syrah, Petit Verdot and even a whiff of Malbec, this is mostly from the great Rhinefarm Vineyard and it is completely delicious (as one would expect). Where Rockus Bockus is your Tuesday night wine, the Mountain Cuvee may be your Saturday night wine - and this Saturday we'll let you take it out for a test drive, absolutely free.

For all you Prisoner, Scout's Honor or just big red wine fans - this is a MUST try!

As always, we appreciate your business and we hope to see you this weekend!

Berola for $9.99!!!

Regular Price: $14.99

Lowest price in the US!

This wine arrived for the first time a few years ago, and it caused quite a splash when it placed first in a blind tasting of 2008 Caymus Special Select...you read that correctly...first place. Borsao Berola was Rockus Bockus before Rockus Bockus was the king slayer, taking down Silver Oak in a blind tasting back in January (did that make sense? :)

All that said, we have never been able to offer this wine for $9.99. It is a scary good wine at that price. Now, some of our competitors will complain about low prices (really?) but this is what we love about our jobs - we get to work out a deal where you get some insanely good wines at some insanely good prices. Nothing to complain about with that.

Get while the gettin' is good though, as there are only 40 cases available at this price.

15% Off Mixed Cases!

15% Off Mixed Cases!
Thursday November 1st - Sunday November 4th

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/5684/17462062.pnghttp://images.huffingtonpost.com/2008-11-25-20071201015559_621blackfriday_lede2.jpg

Nothing says "new store opening" like a 15% off all mixed and matched cases sale. No, we're not talking about a Harris Teeter "let me mark the wine way up before I mark it down" 15% sale, we're talking about real savings here people!

Lake Norman, is open for business this morning - and many thanks to those of you who have already swung by! We are located at 19400 Jetton Road Suite 204 right next to Brooklyn South (at the corner of Jetton Road and W Catawba Ave in Cornelius). What to expect - the lowest prices in North Carolina (and in many cases the nation), the same great customer service (headed by the one and only Ian Coyne), the same wonderful tasting machines (this time with awesome touch screens), and of course all of the exact same wonderful wines that are hand selected for you by Master Sommelier and Master of Wine Doug Frost.

The Sale is at all three stores (Southpark, Blakeney, Lake Norman) and will last through Sunday. We hope to see you this weekend and celebrate with us!

Cheers,
The team @ winestore.
