So this is one doozy of a deal for all you Chardonnay fans. Jason Kesner is the right hand man (and assistant winemaker) to Steve Kistler at Kistler Vineyards, as well as the former Manager of Hudson Vineyards (one of the top Chardonnay sights in United States). He also happens to be the proprietor of Kesner Vineyards and he is making some outstanding Chardonnay. Only problem? It is made in minuscule quantities. The Old Vines Chardonnay in 2008 was only 172 cases. The 2009 Rockbreak? Only 124 cases. 2009 Sandrift? 130 cases. Wines made in such small numbers rarely ever leave California and almost never make it to retail. That is why we bought everything we could get our hands on when this deal came across our desk.

One quick search on Google for Jason Kesner Chardonnay will most likely lead you to two conclusions. People are going nuts for these wines and the $25 price point is insanely low compared to the marketplace. Great summer drinking so get while the gettin' is good!

2009 Alba Liza
2004 Fincas de Ganuza
2009 Domaine Saint Roche Chimeres

Our mention of low prices in the newsletter yesterday got us thinking. Many of you know that we guarantee to offer the lowest prices in North Carolina, but did you also know that we offer the lowest price in the USA on many wines? That's right - there are many great wines here at winestore that cannot be had for a lower price - not at Costco, not at Total Wine, not online...you get the picture. So we are going to put just about all those on the machines this weekend for you to taste!

Yes, it is possible to have incredible quality at incredible prices and these wines are proof positive. Spanish Tempranillo for $6.99? You got it. Napa Chardonnay for $12.99? No problem. $50 wine for $25? It's right here. We get excited about wine. I mean, it's what we do for a living. That being said, the thing that really gets us pumped up is amazing wine that goes easy on the pocketbook.

So swing in on Saturday, try some wine, save a ton of money, and spend some QT with your friends here at winestore (we love seeing you!).

As always, THANK YOU for your business!

Our Best Selling Pinot Noir is Back!

It's Back!!

2011 Les Jamelles Pinot Noir
Regular Price: $11.99
Winestore Price: $9.99 (net)

We care deeply about low prices, and we even have been known to let some of our best sellers go after the winery insists on raising the price for one reason or another. That was the case with Les Jamelles Pinot Noir late last year. This was our best selling wine for our first 3 years until they decided this wine was better than its $9.99 price tag.

Well, in our quest to deliver what you want at the prices we need (and thanks to a 16% drop in the Euro / Dollar conversion rate over the last 12 months) Les Jamelles is back at the $9.99 price we know and love!

So this is to let all of you know, your favorite Pinot Noir is back, and better than ever!

2009 Flora Springs Chardonnay
Flora Springs Chardonnay Napa Valley 2009 750ML
Winery Price: $20.00 (Click HERE to see)
Winestore Sale Price: $12.99
SAVE 35%

This deal sold out in 24 hours and we just got another 56 cases in stock!

Let's be honest.  We're having one of the hottest summers Charlotte has seen in a long time.  What better way to cool off than with a Napa Valley blockbuster Chardonnay at 35% off!  We have sold this amazing Chardonnay in the past at the regular price of $19.99, but now we're able to bring it back at our lowest price ever, $12.99 per bottle.  This very well may be one of the best Chardonnay deals we've ever put together.

Flora Springs has a long tradition of crafting some of the most well rounded wines coming out of Napa Valley. Their Napa Chardonnay utilizes three of the best growing areas in the region, Oakville, Carneros & St. Helena.  Not too shabby...

We could go on and on about how great this wine is and how the winery creates top notch wines, but why not come in and try it for yourself?

As always, we really appreciate your business here at winestore.  If you have any questions about our products please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

The Best Tasting So Far This Year!!

2010 Southern Rhone Tasting!
Saturday July 21st
11am - 8pm

http://conqueringthecenturyclub.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/chateauneuf-sign.jpg

What top critics are saying:

"I place 2010 in the top three of my 40 years covering the Rhône, alongside the 1978 and the 1990"
- Decanter Magazine

"The southern Rhone's winning streak continued through the generally outstanding 2010 vintage, with some estates having produced the best wines I've yet tasted from them."
- Steven Tanzer's Wine Access

"I can’t remember a vintage so concentrated, powerful and rich that also has such zesty acidity."
- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Featuring:
2010 Roger Sabon "Le Secret de Sabon"
2010 Roger Sabon "Rhone by Sabon"
2010 Marcoux Vieilles Vignes
2010 Marcoux Chateauneuf du Pape
2010 Marcoux Lorentine Lirac
2010 Giraud "Tradition" Chateauneuf du Pape
2010 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape
2010 Janasse Cotes du Rhone
2010 Domaine la Garrigue "Cuvee Romaine"
2010 Giraud "Gallimardes" Chateauneuf du Pape

All of our 2010 Rhone order has finally arrived, and we will be putting all the gems on the machine (at least the few that are left!) for you to try this weekend. Yes we've had fun blind tastings, and yes we have had fun Cabernet, Chardonnay etc. tastings - but we are here to tell you that maybe only one other time in our 6 years of being open have we had such an amazing lineup available to taste. These wines are the all-stars of the Southern Rhone and we'll have wines anywhere from $14.99 all the way to $179.99 to try- so there is a little something for everyone.

The last several vintages have been very kind to Southern Rhone producers, and yet the 2010 wines could best them all according to the wine glitterati. Domaine de la Janasse, Roger Sabon, Domaine Giraud and Domaine Marcoux in Chateauneuf-du-Pape are all the rage at the moment among the critics, and for good reason. They make utterly lush and delicious wines, and yet they are not wines that have sold their souls (ya know, with high alcohol, over-extraction, too much oak and the like) in order to get blessed from he-who-must-not-be-named. These wines are rich and impressive, but they not only retain their souls, they HAVE soul. Character. Personality. Whatever.

Maybe California Cabernet is your thing and you just are not that into wines from the Southern Rhone. Well, this is your chance to see what you have been missing. Maybe you are a huge fan of Chateauneuf. Well, this is your dream tasting. If you love wine, love good wine, love trying new things and love a good time - you may want to swing by on Saturday. If you do not like wine, do not like trying new things and do not enjoy a good time - this may not be up your alley :)

As always, THANK YOU for your business and we hope to see you Saturday. The wines should be off the charts.

Charlotte based wine importer Eric Solomon is on a roll. Like, the guy is just absolutely crushing it right now and we are super excited he lives in Charlotte so we can get access to some of these outstanding values.

We first tasted this Grenache last year and were blown away - I mean the package, the taste, the price - it was a triple threat. Well, good things sometimes take time in the wine business and it took a good long while for this wine to finally show up. So this morning when it arrived we were like kids on Christmas morning.

If you are into sub $10 awesome wine you might want to grab yourself some of this bad boy. The most powerful wine critic in the world recently said after tasting the Altes wines, "As I told Eric Solomon, at these ridiculously low prices, consumers will never suspect the wines are at this level of quality." We could not agree more...

So here we go again - more silly good wine at scary good prices from your friend and neighbor Eric Solomon. I guess now when we drink some of his Spanish gems we can really say we are drinking local :)

5 Liter Bottle of Niepoort Twisted!

Winestore Price: $110.00 (net)

Equivalent to $16 per bottle!

So yeah, we realize this is not for everyone :) That being said, we ordered one of these 5 Liter bottles a few weeks ago and it sold in 15 minutes...so we went back and bought all they had.

So now we have 10 of these beauties, and they are perfect if you need about 6-7 bottles of red for a party this summer. Bigger is always better when it comes to bottle size (at least we think so) and these things are super fun at parties!!

If The Price Is Right Save 15%

Play the Price is Right
Saturday July 14th, 2012
11am- 8pm

http://www.scandigital.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/price-is-right.jpghttp://www.drvino.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/blind_wine_tasting.jpg
It's time for our 3rd Annual Price is Right Tasting, which is a little bit of a twist on our traditional blind tastings. Most people say they can tell if a wine is more expensive simply based on the taste. Well, this weekend you're going to get to test that theory with a little game of The Price is Right! (Unfortunately we could not fit a Plinko board into the store, so we're simply going to have to settle with using the tasting machines).

Eight red wines and four white wines will all be covered up blind, and each will be the same price to taste $0.75. You will then be given a sheet with 12 different prices on it to use as your guide. If you can match the correct price to the correct wine you will get 15% off each wine guessed correctly! Your 15% discount will apply to as much as you would like to buy of that particular wine.

Given how great this tasting has been the last two years, we know this will be a ton of fun (and we'll be playing Beach Music all day just because it is summer and we love it!). We've done plenty of blind tastings where we thought that $50 Cab was a $12 daily drinker...so we know how fun it is to guess completely wrong. If, however, you guess correct - your pocketbook is going to be thanking you!

Happy Tasting and we'll see you on Saturday!

Spanish Superstars Tasting!

Spanish Superstars Tasting!
Saturday July 7th , 2012
11am - 8pm

http://www.bytalking.com/wp-content/uploads/ferrer_bobet_tarjetas.jpg

Featuring:
2008 Ferrer Bobet Seleccio Especial
2004 Fincas de Ganuza Rioja Reserva
2004 Muga "Prado Enea" Gran Reserva
2010 Black Slate "La Vilella Alta" Priorat
2010 Honoro Vera Garnacha
2009 Capcanes "Mas Donis"
2009 Mustiguillo "Mestis"
2008 Borsao "Berola"

Some of you probably see this lineup and think "I have got to get in there on Saturday and taste these beauties!" Others of you may just be thinking "I just don't like Spanish wines". Well, this e-mail is for all the haters. Spain is the third most prolific wine producing country on the planet and they have devoted more acreage to vines than even California. To put it simply, the Spanish are super serious about their vino.

They are also serious about value. In today's marketplace, there is no better place to get an amazing bang for your buck than in the Spanish wine section. Mas Donis? $9.99 and it is absolutely crazy good juice. La Vilella Alta? Under $20 for some lip smacking good Priorat. While the value wines are amazing, the top wines are epic in their own right and will give any of your California or French favorites a serious run for their money. That is why we will be featuring wines like 2008 Ferrer Bobet Seleccio Especial. One taste might very well shift your wine drinking paradigm. Muga "Prado Enea"? This Rioja is a healthy blend of powerhouse and traditional gentility, and is our favorite of their entire portfolio.

Without waxing poetic for 3,000 words we just hope you swing by and get your Spanish taste on. The wines are always on our dinner table and nothing says beat the heat like a 68 degree winestore!

We hope to see you this weekend and as always, THANK YOU for your business!

Epic Wine Value from Eric Solomon!

2010 Black Slate "La Vilella Alta"
http://www.klwines.com/images/skus/1090289x.jpg

2010 Black Slate "La Vilella Alta" Priorat
Winestore Price: $19.99 (net) per bottle
Only 30 cases available

Any time Charlotte based wine importer Eric Solomon creates a new project we pay close attention. When he creates it with winemaking wizard Phillipe Cambie we pay double close attention. When famed Priorat winery Mas Alta is involved we pay triple close attention. So when wine critic Robert Parker jumps on the bandwagon and goes bananas for this stuff things start to get out of hand. Parker recently tasted with Solomon and stated:

"The following tasting, which was done in April, 2012, was one of the greatest "value" tastings, if not the greatest, I have done in my 30+ years in the business."

His tasting note on La Viella Alta came with one interesting remark:

"Priorat wines such as this normally sell for over $100+ per bottle"

We've been loving on the Black Slate wines for some time, but we just want to make sure you get to try this one - it is pretty awesome juice for $20.

So ignore the hype if you want...all we know is we're buying cases for ourselves, and we think you should too!

Happy 4th of July!
