It's time for a Leap Day Deal!! The hype machine regarding 2010 wines from the Southern Rhone is in full swing, and the inexpensive offerings are being gobbled up at a record rate. We just bought the last 56 cases of 2010 Domaine La Garrigue Cuvee Romaine in North Carolina and are now pleased to offer it to you at the lowest price in the nation!

As delicious and special as the wines are, my love of Domaine la Garrigue is based as much upon my memory of the place as it is upon the character of the wine they produce. The Bernard family who own La Garrigue also own the beautiful inn and restaurant Les Florets, one of my favorite spots in that glorious region. Cuvee Romaine is a joint project between Eric Solomon, the Bernard family, along with brilliant oenologist, Philippe Cambie. It is full throttle wine that is always one of our best sellers year in and year out and 2010 may be their best effort yet!

So enjoy this gem while it lasts, it is an absolutely wonderful "daily drinker"!

We LOVE working deals - and these two are pretty rich. We're not allowed to publicly tell you what the wines are going to be (you're going to have to come into the store and see for yourself!), but what we can tell you is that the savings are monumental, the wineries are top flight, the vintages are awesome, and the juice is outstanding. Not enough to get you excited? How about this:

Right now, the lowest price in the USA on the Cabernet is $63.48 - our six pack price is $29.99 per bottle - a savings of $33 or 52%.
The lowest price in the USA on the Chardonnay is $43.99 - our six pack price is $24.99 per bottle - a savings of $19 or 43% I mean, that is CRAZY!

So yes, this Saturday we are tasting some mystery wines - and while they are not exactly priced at what we would call an "everyday drinker", any time I can buy an iPhone for the price of a Startac (I hope someone gets this!) I usually don't pass it up!

Swing in this Saturday from 2-4pm, drink some amazing juice, and have a great time!

People absolutely LOVE really big wine. Wine that stains the teeth, enough alcohol to run your hybrid and thick jammy fruit. Well, we decided to go out and find some of the absolute biggest flavored wines that exist on the planet. Big Grenache from Spain, gigantic Cabernet from Napa, and even some monster Merlot from powerhouse Plumpjack. There are some wine writers that would describe these wines as "Hedonistic Thermonuclear Fruit Bombs" and that is exactly what these are...heck, one of these wines was recently described by one of the most powerful wine writers in the world as "a modern day legend in the making"!

Sooo - if you are looking to enjoy some really amazing wine this weekend, here are a few of the gems that we will have on the machine on Saturday...several of these definitely qualify in the "cult" wine category:

2008 Dunn "Howell Mountain" Cabernet
2009 Owen Roe Yakima Valley Red Wine
2010 Mollydooker "The Boxer"
2007 Las Flors de La Peira
2004 Bodegas Mas Alta "Artigas"
2009 Klinker Brick "Old Ghost" Zinfandel
2008 Retro Petite Sirah
2009 Plumpjack Merlot

So, call your best friends, draw straws to see who's going to be the D.D. and bring everyone to the tasting!  The wines are going to be AMAZING!!!

Lowest Price in the USA for Valentine's Day!

2004 Mas Alta "Artigas" Priorat
http://www.b-21.com/images/mas-alta-artigas-l.gif

Release Price: $38.99
Winestore Price: $24.99 (net)

Lowest Price in the USA

Nothing says Valentine's Day like a big, spicy red wine from the Priorat region of Spain. Well, maybe flowers do...but we don't sell flowers so this is the next best thing! Priorat is a small growing region about 90 miles southwest of Barcelona that looks more like the moon than it does any wine growing region. Jagged hillsides and slate soil help produce some of the most complex, full bodied and spicy red wines on the planet. It certainly doesn't hurt that Bodegas Mas Alta works with winemaking phenom Philippe Cambie and that Charlotte resident Eric Solomon brings the wines to the US market. It's also a BIG plus that this is from the 2004 vintage. 2004 was an epic year in the Priorat region...epic like Jeremy Lin epic (not sure who he is, just google). All this goodness matched with the lowest price in the US and you've got a Valentine's Day bombshell of a wine - and you can let your honey know that aside from buying only the best wine to drink with dinner this evening, you are quite thrifty as well.

Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours and enjoy the wine!

Our Most Revealing Tasting of the Year!

Second Label Tasting!
Saturday February 11th, 2012
11am - 8pm

http://www.enomatic.co.nz/images/models/enoround.jpg

Sometimes the greatest of the great wines are just simply out of our reach. That being said, you may not know that most of the world's most expensive wines produce second label "sibling" wines, often times with the left over juice that went into the $100 cuvees. It is a rare opportunity to be able to taste the flagship wine right next to its second label offering, but that is exactly what we are doing for you this weekend at our 4th Annual Second Label Tasting! Find out if the $100 Napa Cab is better than the $35 second offering - perhaps the $75 estate wine really isn't worth it for you compared right next to the $25 second label Cabernet from the same producer. Famed Napa Valley legend Jayson Pahlmeyer summed up his second label "Jayson", by saying “The Jayson goes into the same brand new French oak barrels [as the main label, Pahlmeyer], has the same barrel-aging regimen, same blending, same care and dedication from my winemaker,” Pahlmeyer explains. “It’s 90 percent of the quality at 50 percent of the price.”

"90% of the quality at 50% of the price" - now that is an equation we are ready to get on board with! We think you'll be astounded how close these second labels taste to the real thing! Come in this Saturday and see for yourself! We have something for everyone, Cabernet from California, Grenache from Spain, Chateauneuf from France, and more!

Let us be honest with you - we LOVE this wine. Like, I'm pretty sure we drank enough of this wine to fill an Olympic size swimming pool over the Holidays (is that bad?). How could we not love Charvin from a wonderful vintage for only $14.99? 2009 is one of those vintages that shows the southern Rhone at its sunny, fruity, spicy best and Charvin always represents some of the best values in any given vintage, especially a great one like 2009. Never heard of Domaine Charvin? Well, a good friend of ours happened to produce a short film on the winery which is available for free out on the interwebs. If you want to really get geeky and learn a little more about this estate you can watch the film by clicking HERE.

Hope you enjoy this one as much as we do. Only problem is we only have enough left to fill a small inflatable kiddie pool :)

Featuring:
2010 Orin Swift "The Prisoner"
2009 Orin Swift "Saldo"
2010 Orin Swift "Palermo"
2009 Orin Swift "Mercury Head"

It's release time for two of the best selling Cabernet based wines in the Orin Swift portfolio, Mercury Head and Palermo. Knowing that people are flat out obsessed with these wines (this is not a joke - just do a google search), we are going to celebrate by putting up Orin Swift wines on the machine all day on Saturday. If you are loving you some California wine lately, be comforted in knowing the fruit for most of these wines is sourced from Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford, and Saint Helena. Those regions are to wine what UNC and Duke are to College Basketball - show stoppers (heck, the label for Mercury Head is a Mercury Head dime - totally cool!).

The hype machine is already in full gear for all of these wines, so be sure to swing by on Saturday and see what all the fuss has been about!

Only 19 cases available!

If you are anything like us, you are constantly looking for a great $7ish wine to drink on a Tuesday night. Well, we think we found one for you! Rubens is 100% Tempranillo and full of lush, ripe fruit and almost no tannin at all. That means super easy drinking at a super friendly price point of $7.99. Is this wine going to change your life? No, it will not (but we are still looking for the one that will). Is this wine going to make some magic happen with that 45,000 calorie super dip you are preparing for the Super Bowl party? Yes, it will.

The back of the label says "To be enjoyed with all your meals". While we think that might be a bit aggressive, for $7.99 it should at least make it into the rotation for a few of them!
