2009 McManis Petite Sirah
2008 Stanton Petite Sirah
2008 Four Vines "The Heretic"
2007 Lucky Star Petite Sirah
2006 Earthquake Petite Sirah

Petite Sirah has been getting a lot of love over the last few years - and while we have some favorites that never seem to disappoint (Runquist, Earthquake, Lucky Star) we are constantly finding new Petite Sirah out there that is AMAZING (Four Vines Heretic and La Storia come to mind).

PS has a lot of what people have been looking for in wine - it is big wine, and in some cases it is BIG to the nth power. It has a beautiful dark color and usually is bursting with all sorts of beautiful black cherry and berry flavors. It's basically the perfect wine to drink as it begins to turn cold again - it will warm you right back up!

We're pulling out all the best Petite Sirah we could find this weekend - the killer 2008 Four Vines Heretic, the best Petite you've never had in the 2008 Stanton, the blockbuster Petite from Earthquake, and then plenty of great ones for your everday consumption - McManis, Lucky Star, Two Angels and so on.

So stop on in this weekend, try some wonderful Petite Sirah (as well as some other fun goodies on the machine!) and enjoy the end of January in style. You might also just find that crowd pleaser you've been looking to serve at your Superbowl Party next weekend! Nothing says Packers vs. Steelers like monster Petite Sirah!!

Is This Better Than Rombauer Chardonnay?

Trefethen Double T Chardonnay

Winery Price: $17.00 (Click HERE to see)
Winestore Price: $14.99 (net)
Special Six Pack Price: $12.99 per bottle

SAVE 24%

Rombauer Chardonnay is sacred ground for many...and with that being said we must let you know that the #1 question we get asked by Chardonnay fans is "I love Rombauer but I don't want to pay $27 for it - do you have anything in the $10-$15 range." Well, for those of you that have been asking that question over the last several years - your ship has come in. After some wrangling with the powers that be on price, we are able to offer you a fantastic Napa Chardonnay that we think is every bit as wonderful as Rombauer but for half the price. We're also for a short time going to be offering a six pack special for only $12.99 per bottle. That is a 24% off the winery price and is 53% lower than our $27.99 price on Rombauer Chardonnay.

We'll have the wine up on our tasting machines so you can taste for yourself, but let it be known that this is our new "go to" Chardonnay. Will you think it is as great or better than Rombauer? We think so, but we have been wrong before (but it was only one time :)

So enjoy this tasty Chardonnay and we look forward to hearing what you think!

2008 Tantara "T. Solomon Wellborn" Pinot Noir

Calling all Pinotfiles!!! This weekend you will finally have the chance to taste some of the best Pinot Noir being produced in the United States. We've decided to go ahead and put together some of the most sought after and delicious Pinot Noirs in the United States and we're calling it the Pinot Noir Battle Royale!

You'll be able to compare California blockbusters from Caymus (producer of Belle Glos), Morgan and Tantara against one of the titans of Oregon (and US) Pinot Noir - Domaine Serene. We always love putting great wines up against each other - it not only gives you the ability to really taste and see what type of styles you like, but you are also given the chance to compare and contrast notes with other fellow customers who are just as excited as you are about these great wines.

The tasting is simple. Show up on Saturday, grab your tasting card and sample each of these fantastic Pinots to decide which producer is the winner. We'll have paper and pens for you to make notes and great pricing should you feel the urge to bring home a few of these phenomenal wines.

This tasting should prove to be one of our best so far and we look forward to seeing each of you on Saturday!

Cheers,

The winestore. team

58% off Great Napa Wine!

2006 HDV Belle Cousine
http://www.finewinehouse.com/ml/hdv_belle_cousine.jpg

Winery Price: $60.00 per bottle (Click HERE to see)
Winestore Price: $29.99 per bottle
6 Pack Price: $24.99 per bottle
Save 50% on 1-5 bottles or 58% on 6 or more!

Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you just stumble into an amazing deal...and that is what happened with us and the 2006 HDV Belle Cousine. While you may have never heard of HDV, you probably have heard of the forces behind this joint venture - the Hyde Family and Aubert de Villaine. The Hyde Family, owners of the famouse Hyde Vineyard, produce grapes used by some of the greatest names in California winemaking including Kistler, Paul Hobbs, Robert Mondavi, Ramey, and Patz & Hall among others. Aubert de Villaine is probably the most recognized name in Pinot Noir, serving as Co-Director of Domaine Romanee-Conti. Arguably the greatest winery in the world, Romanee Conti produces a slew of Pinot Noir from Burgundy that usually fetch anywhere from $1,000-$5,000 per bottle. I mean, that is a pretty solid partnership if you ask me.

Now we come to the HDV Belle Cousine. A blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Malbec and a few other grapes this wine is pretty darn good for $60 - for $24.99 this wine is ridiculous. Buy a six pack to enjoy over the next year, buy 1 bottle just because you love a good deal, or pass on this one - but let it be known that we have never seen this wine at this price...ever.

As always, we appreciate your business and we truly love bringing you great wine deals and everyday low prices on the best wines we can find (we also gurantee all of our prices to be the lowest in NC). The wine will be on the tasting machine to try until we run out, but take our word for it - this is tasty stuff.

Taste Silver Oak Napa Blind vs. $25 Rivals!

Taste Silver Oak Blind vs. $25 Rivals!
Saturday January 15th, 2011
11am-8pm
All Day Long!!

http://www.vintagecorks.com/Vintage%20Corks/Images/Silver%20Oak%20Logo.jpghttp://farm4.static.flickr.com/3442/3239724003_fe61a94448.jpg

Featuring 2005 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet

It's that time again - time for our 4th Annual Silver Oak Blind Tasting. This year, we are breaking out the Secretariat of the Silver Oak stables - 2005 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet (not to be confused with the Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet). Not too long ago this wine was priced at $100 per bottle (the price has since come down a bit). It is a staple at every steakhouse in America. That being said, not too long ago we reported to you that 2005 Silver Oak Napa was beaten in a blind taste test by Edge Cabernet (a $20 bottle of Cab) . It almost seems unfair, I mean a Porsche is supposed to go faster than a Honda Accord, and a $80 wine is supposed to taste better than a $25 one. Right? Well, maybe not. A wine's success isn't measured in MpH, it's measured in the taste that is transferred from the glass to your mouth. If you don't know the price, can't see the label, and can't hear someone barking in your ear about the wine's "score," then all that is left is the juice and your taste buds. It's a scary proposition for any winemaker. That's why you have marketing departments that design catchy labels, create campaigns to build a wine's image, and spend all of their time and energy essentially trying to convince consumers that a wine is great. The problem is that you can't out "market" a blind tasting.

Which is why we're playing "Find the Silver Oak Napa" this Saturday. It's simple really. The wines will all be tasted blind on our tasting machines. One of them will be 2005 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet and the others will be an assortment of wines at every price point from a number of different regions. All you have to do is taste and pick your favorite. Yes, that's right, your favorite. If that's the Silver Oak, then great, if not, well that's OK too. You may be surprised as to what your favorites actually are.

We hope to see you Saturday - these are always fun events!

An Amazing Wine Value from Eric Solomon

2009 Peuch-Haut Prestige
http://ei.isnooth.com/wine/Chateau-Puech-Haut-Coteaux-de-Languedoc-Prestige-2009.0_4_d.wine_5806551_detail.jpeg

2009 Peuch-Haut Presitge
Winestore Price: $19.99 per bottle
Only 20 cases available

Any time Charlotte based wine importer Eric Solomon creates a new project we pay close attention. When he creates it with winemaking wizard Phillipe Cambie we pay double close attention. And when wine critic Robert Parker goes out of his way to post the following we pay SERIOUS attention.

"Had this yesterday at a tasting of value wines from the south of France-being released 9/1/10-2009 Chateau Puech Haut Prestige-Coteaux du Languedoc-have been familiar with this estate for a number of years and always liked the wines....Michel Rolland was their first consultant and then Claude Gros....as of 2009, it is Philippe Cambie..so three of the most talented oenologists in France have worked here...this new cuvee is an astonishing wine...a blend of 55% grenache from 60-75 year old vines and 45% syrah from 40 year old vines(all planted on limestone soils), the wine is fermented and aged in cement-so a naked wine with no cosmetic make-up...oodles of forest floor flora ,raspberry, kirsch, and plum are present in both aromatics and flavors...medium to full-bodied, silky tannins, and already very complex and drinkable..in fact I would recommend consuming it over the next 2-4 years...from European Cellars-Eric Solomon....the dreadful economy..the strong dollar, and a producer trying to make inroads in our market has resulted in this low price....one caveat-this is a custom cuvee only available in the USA...fashioned by Cambie and Solomon....I intend to buy several cases....just amazing what is available from this region....and of course thety have had two superlative vintages of late...2007 and 2009..."
- Robert Parker

So ignore the hype if you want...all we know is we're buying cases for ourselves, and we think you should too!

If there is still a winemaker that is as hot as ever, it is Jeff Runquist. His wines are the ultimate crowd pleasers - the type of wines you can pour for your friends and people will be talking about them for days. That is why we are putting together a tasting of almost all of his wines. Love Petite Sirah? Try to find one better than Runquist....Love Sangiovese? Nobody does it better in California...Love Zinfandel? This may even be better than Klinker Brick :)

These are big wines, perfect for this cold weather and best of all is that they are fun wines. Drinking wine is fun and when you put some Jeff Runiqust in the glass the fun factor goes up by several basis points. Oh - and did we mention you can't buy these wines for less anywhere in NC!

As always, THANK YOU for your business and we hope to see you this weekend!
